Business Development Director Position Details:

The Director, Business Development (“DBD”) is responsible for all prospecting, business development and leasing of owned, leased and managed infrastructure, and for securing agreements for new and developing related products and services, to carrier and non-carrier accounts within an assigned account base. Collaborating with inside sales personnel to support single-site leasing transactions, the DBD focuses on early stage development and influence of new multi-site and bundled opportunities with existing and prospective customers. The DBD also develops and drives new business proposals, initiatives and programs to broaden the Company’s marketing reach and overall effectiveness.

Non-carrier accounts may include, but are not limited to, government entities, wireless and fixed broadband providers, cable and telephone companies, machine-to-machine and internet of things service providers, utility and energy providers, financial services and high-frequency trading firms, and other parties that have the ability to utilize communications infrastructure to enable an application or provide a managed or retail-serving end-user service.

Duties & Key Areas of Responsibility:

Maintain a thorough knowledge of all internal product and service offerings.

Effectively market and lease communications infrastructure and services to customers within an assigned account base by teaming with inside sales to facilitate single-site leasing transactions and directly managing multi-site or bundled leasing transactions.

Achieve new quarterly and annual business leasing budgets for all products, as measured by dollar volume of fully executed leases or licenses.

Establish and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified new business opportunities.

Initiate, organize, prepare and lead customer sales calls with consistent follow-through.

Utilize a thorough understanding of customers’ business position to make internal recommendations on proposed key business terms.

Identify new business opportunities with prospective users of communications infrastructure, including original equipment manufacturers, engineering and integration firms, and consultants, through internal lead generation sources, research calls, meetings and presentations.

Develop and implement strategic business development ideas, value propositions and programs to drive significant business results within assigned segments, including but not limited to lease-up market share, commenced new business, invested capital, total segment revenue, new product development, and customer satisfaction.

Present creative solutions that capture greater market share while solving customer challenges.

Develop business case materials to aid in the facilitation of proposal and pricing recommendation reviews.

Work with the Director, Segment Sales and internal support teams to develop and carry-forward proposals and initiatives approved by management and establish acceptable business terms through detailed discussions with internal stakeholders and decision makers.

Leverage effective closing skills to drive new business, i.e., overcome customer objections and/or obstacles throughout the sales process.

Provide accurate and timely pipeline and lease-up forecasting.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Successful sales track record with a growth mindset.

Self-starter with the ability and motivation to work independently to achieve new business leasing budgets.

Excellent ability to create new, and maintain existing, account relationships.

Strong networking and prospecting skills; able to research and prioritize potential opportunities and create relationships that lead to new sales.

Ability to qualify leads effectively and manage business opportunities to consistently achieve targets Ability to identify key contacts for follow up; excellent ability to communicate project and status updates to team and cross-functionally to ensure understanding.

Ability to work effectively across many internal functional groups to optimize product offerings, create a seamless customer experience and resolve issues.

Self-motivated; able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests and with others to utilize their resources and knowledge to identify high quality solutions.

Effective at achieving results in a time-sensitive and high volume environment.

Good strategic and creative problem solving skills that effectively influence decision making during negotiations.

Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively; strong proficiency in leading dynamic presentations to customers.

Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast paced environment.

  • ▪Bachelor’s degree required
    ▪At least 5 years’ sales and/or business development experience required
    ▪At least 3 years’ wireless, telecommunications or real estate industry experience strongly preferred
    ▪Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite, required
    ▪Experience using forecasting tools such as Salesforce.com preferred

Approximately 100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Approximately 50% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
